This has been a eating place that we frequent during our visits to Penang. My 7 Uncle introduced my brother and myself to this eating a couple of years back and we have been coming here since. We have also seen how this place have evolved from a stall on wheel to becoming an anchor tenant in this coffee shop. The food served are like Zhi Char. We are looking at a eight varities of food but cooked really well. One of their delicious food on the menu is Mee Sua Kor. It is basically a bowl of mee sua cooked with broth, egg, minced pork and crab meat thicken with flour. Black vinegar can be added to taste prior to eating.

Curry Mee @ Lorong Seratus Tahun (百年路咖哩麵), George Town, Penang

This has been a must visit stall whenever our family visit Penang. It is also a curry mee stall that my Dad grew up during childhood days in Penang. Over the years, I have developed an acquired taste to the soup flavour which consists of prawn broth, coconut milk, lemon grass and many spices.

Today is no exception, as we visited Penang and a must stop is 百年路咖哩麵, the curry mee stall at Lorong Seratus Tahun. The four of us ordered five large curry mee; four without cockles and one with. The spicy red but not hot chilli paste, is housed in a stainless steel container for you to add to your liking.

In a couple of minutes, the delicious curry mee were served and we wasted no time to devour the delicious combination of bee hoon, yellow noodles accompanied with cuttlefish, cubes of pig blood, prawns, cockles, and bite sized tau pok that have been thoroughly soaked in the sweet tasty broth.

Ayam Penyet @ Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

There was so much talk about Ayam Penyet on Yummy Tummy forum that it excited my palate. Decided to feast on the Ayam Penyet stall that was introduced by my friend, Salim.

The quarter chicken is presented on a nice wooden plate served with lettuce, long beans, sliced cucumber, 2 pieces of fried bean curd and a generous portion of sambal belachan. Rice is not oily and accompanied by a bowl of tasty soup.

This trip to the railway station was also nostalgic as it invokes childhood memories of taking train from Simgapore to Kuala Lumpur and to Butterworth for our onward journey to Penang. I took some pictures and videos and looking forward to sharing with you guys soon.

Punggol Noodles @ Kovan

While doing my beef noodles food blog on Ri Yi @ Kovan one evening. I was reminded that the Punggol Noodles at the very same coffeeshop is very good. I had no chance to try it out as this stall's business is so good that it is sold out by lunch time. The unique selling point for this stall is the meatball. Tipo fish is added to the meatball to give it added sweetness.

I had to make another deliberate trip one early Saturday to have a chance to savour this meatball noodle delicacy.

Mee Kia served with sliced sauteed mushroom topping

Noodles were served with sliced mushroom topping. Noodle texture were above average but slightly dryer to my liking. The portions served were generous with lots of bean sprouts to go along. I was told that the noodles taste better if the boss is personally handing the cooking.

 With the Tipo fish added to the meatball, the broth comes with a natural refreshing sweetness which is pleasant to the palate. The meatballs are so popular that slabs of minced meat are sold for those who want to take-away for home cooking or adding to their steam-boat menu.

Overall, a nice refreshing meal with meatballs and noodle. Yummy indeed.

Ri Yi Beef Noodles @ Kovan

Thanks to silverchef, I was introduced to this beef noodle stall inconspicuously tucked away in the corner of Kovan.

A bowl of deliciously cooked beef noodle

It is by far the best beef noodle that I have tasted. Beef slices are cook to tender perfection. The beef broth is excellent and taste better with fermented black bean paste or fermented black beans added. Preserved shallots are served as dip to accompany this delicious beef noodle.
