Duck, Char Siew Rice

This stall serves excellent roasted meat and attracts a huge crowd during lunch time. This stall is actually next to Hong Kong Gourmet which was earlier featured in my earlier blog.

Their roast meat menu includes roast pork, roast duck and char siew. On top of its menu of roasted meat. It also serves double boiled soup of water crest soup chicken soup should one wish to have a soup to go with the rice. Soup is slightly bland but pairs well with the roast meat and rice.

As you can see from the signboard, the boss is also not very keen in branding his stall except to name it literally Duck, Cha Siew Rice.

Ng Ah Sio Pork Rib Soup Eating House

This eating house has been on my list of "must visit" for a while now. There were also a couple of time when I went there but it was closed. That made me more determined to want to try the pork ribs at this eating house as i have heard and read many good reviews.
The ribs are tender and soft. Soup is peppery and tasty. Cecilia liked this stall better than Founder's as she find the soup there too sweet. In my opinion, I like the the ribs and soup. We also ordered pork kidney soup  and it taste good.

Meng Heng Minced Pork Noodle 明興香菇肉脞麵

This is a minced pork noodle stall that I usually patronise for my breakfast. It serves delicious minced pork noodles and many people working around here could agree with me too.

Minced pork noodles is a comfort food for fellow Singaporeans and people living in Singapore are also getting used to it. The gravy for the dry noodle comes from the pot of braised dried mushroom and pork knuckles. Black vinegar is added to "Omph" to the taste. The noodle is then topped up with prok ball, slices of fish cake and minced meat.

Ice Edge Cafe

A week ago, with silverchef's contact I had the honour of meeting up with Damien Low, Manager of Ice Edge Cafe.

We tried out a plethora of dishes available in this humble looking cafe. Overall, the food is delicious to my palate. The entree was the calamari and boy it was one of the better calamari that I have tasted. The batter was filled with flavour and texture of the calamari is not rubbery. Definitely a good finger food to go with drinks in the evening too.

Deep Fried Calamari
My favourite was the gnocchi in mushroom cream. Ironically, this is also the first time I have tasted the gnocchi. Ice Edge Cafe handmade the gnocchi themselves and it is not too floury. Overall, a tasty dish.

Another winner is Barbeque Pork Ribs. The pork ribs are tender, not sticking to the bones, layered over with balanced, tangy BBQ sauce.

Ice Edge Cafe started selling Gelato and has a wide range of Gelato selection. There is even "Mao Shan Wang" to appeal to durian lovers.

Lily's Vegetarian Kitchen @ Georgetown, Penang

If you have been following my blog. You would have knew by now that my mum is a full-time vegetarian. Looking out for good vegetarian food is also part of our itinerary. My younger brother did some research prior to coming to Penang and "short-listed" Lily's Vegetarian Kitchen.

We had our dinner there one evening and was pleased with the food.

Grandma Porridge
Grandma Porridge's seemingly humble name and appearance makes me wow in wonder right after tasting a spoonful of the porridge. Got to try it to believe. Bon appetite.

Hokkien Mee
The next tasty dish on the menu is Hokkien Mee. While eating, I was just wondering how Lily's Vegetarian Kitchen was able to cook up such a tasty vegetarian treat. There is a slight change in naming here where in Penang this is called Hokkien Mee and in Singapore we will name this Prawn Mee.

Lily's Vegetarian Kitchen has a wide variety in its menu and all the dishes we tasted were good. To name a few; Nonya Kuehs, Koay Teow Soup, Lam Mee, Dumpling Soup, Ang Chow Mee Suar.
