Nonya Chendol @ Restoran Famosa Chicken Rice Ball (Malacca (Melaka), Malaysia)

Right after coming out from Chung Wah Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball with my mind still lingering on the stringing texture of its chicken. We headed towards Jonker Street. The weather was sunny and the heat was starting to get a little bit unbearable even for that short instance.

Chendol or sometimes spelled Cendol is a traditional peranakan dessert that is popular in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and even Southern Thailand.

I was fixated on a legend that there was an old man selling Chendol somewhere along this street. The heat was getting unbearable and we spotted this strategically placed stall outside Restoran Famosa Chicken Rice Ball. The attractiveness of the Chendol laced with generous Gula Melaka and the sweltering heat made me forget about Chendol old man immediately. Sorry about that........

Basic ingredients for this dessert includes coconut milk, jelly made from rice flour with its green colouring derived from pandan leaves, finely shaved ice and mostly importantly Gula Melaka, which is palm sugar. Other variations of Chendol is entirely up to your imagination and creativity.

3 glorious bowls of Chendol was sacrificed to enable writing inspiration for this blog.

The entire blog was penned at Starbucks, Valley Point. Starbucks, Thanks for handing out a free sample of your Peppermint Mocha Frappachinno. Cheers!
