Good Year Local Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball

For those who have been reading my blog long enough would have known by now that I have a craving for chicken rice ball. So much so that I would travel to Melaka, Malaysia to have my chicken rice ball fix.

That is until I was told that Singapore has more than two such stalls serving chicken rice ball. The first thing that came to my mind was.."What am I waiting for..?" The first thing to take the first opportunity to try out the stall nearer to where i stay.

This stall is located at a HDB (flats that most Singaporeans live in) block coffee shop near the Braddell MRT (Subway). The stall is tended by elderly but friendly people. The rice ball is bigger than the ones in Chung Wah in Melaka. The rice ball here is smaller than a tennis ball whereas the Chung Wah's rice ball is the size of a ping pong ball.

The rice ball is good but I must say not as good as Chung Wah. Maybe the rice ball is bigger than a mouthful and thus not able to break the rice ball in the mouth to explode the fragrant flavor. But that is just my guess.....

The chicken is served hainanese style, meat is tender, smooth and not salty but served with bones in them.

The additional chiap chye (stir fry vegetables) and complimentary soup filled with peanuts and chicken goes very well with the chicken rice.
